Happy Halloween!

Fall brings the Pumpkin Patch, Wonderful Weather, Face Painting, and the ward Turnk Or Treat! We enjoyed them all--and had a blast!

We stayed true to our roots and dressed up as Bronco fans...Brynlee was a Bronco's cheerleader. She wasn't quite sure what happened to her parents, but she hung out with us the whole night anyway. The kids raked in the candy...those pumpkins are full!

"All I want for Christmas is..."

It is fun to hear her try to talk. When people ask her how she is going to eat corn on the cob or apples, she frankly replies, "I'll have my mom cut it up!" We love you Hannah!

Happy 1st Birthday Brynlee!

We have enjoyed every minute of our first year with Brynlee and are so happy she is in our family. She brings us so much joy...and messes! Papa, you'd be proud to know she made a decent mess out of her birthday cake! And she makes plenty of messes on a daily basis to keep me running!

I put together a slideshow of her first year. Hope you enjoy (and don't get motion sickness)!

St. George Marathon

I did it! I actually trained for and completed a MARATHON! I never thought I would have ever wanted to run a marathon, much less be able to actually do it.

My friend Tiffany talked me into running a marathon in the first place, but we also trained together, even though we lived hours apart. We followed the same training schedule, passed along valuable tidbits of information we picked up on, and shared our failures and successes. I got injured twice, once two months before and the second time I rolled my ankle 2 weeks before. Twice I thought I would have to let go of what had become my dream. But I couldn't let it go. So I arrived at the Start line only having run 18 miles as my longest distance two months before the race, but I was free of pain and that was truly miraculous. I can only say that I know it was the prayers of my family and friends that gave me a sense of calm that morning; and it stayed with me the entire race.

At mile 23, Tiff's brother found us and actually ran alongside us to snap some photos. We were in major pain here (running hurt, and stopping hurt worse), but just seeing someone cheering specifically for you was an incredible boost to the spirits. Thanks Ryan!

The last mile of the race was the LONGEST mile I have ever run! When we crossed that finish line it was such a triumphant feeling and the smiles on our faces show it!
After the race, we relaxed and after a couple of hours, we were starving! We hobbled around to get ready to go eat. Tiff said I looked like a "wounded flamingo" and I fell down laughing, which slowed us down ever further! Plus, I had to go down the stairs on my bum! Oh and climbing in and out of BJ's truck...OW! It was quite the ordeal, but, we finally made it to the best post race restaurant in the world: Texas Roadhouse--Bring on the rolls, ribs and mashed potatoes! Thank you Tiffany, for your insane ideas and for being the best running partner and friend a girl could ask for!
Running the marathon was more to me than just a race. It was a journey. At the end of which I scored a fit body, a memorable experience, and a sense that I can do anything I set out to do, no matter the challenges that cross my path. Give me good friends, family, and the Lord as my support and I am unstoppable!

September

Happy Birthday Hannah! Yes folks she's 7! We got her a real big girl bike so she can ride without training wheels. She also lost on of her two front teeth! She is sweet and helpful and becoming quite a talented, intelligent young lady. We are so glad we have you Hannah!

It was still HOT here so we spent time up in the mountains to cool off. We hiked, rode the ATV, ate s'mores, took naps and got rained on. It was a wonderful time and our load was lightened with BJ's mom here. She got the kids busy looking for acorns and it turned out to be quite a fun little treasure hunt!

Sometimes it is the daily routines that bring us the most joy and the most challenges. Recently, I have been trying to focus more on the good things that occur rather than the chaotic, often overwhelming ones. In that spirit I put together a montage of a few of those moments that we were actually lucky enough to capture this month. I hope you enjoy and that you are able to enjoy the little gifts of joy you are given everyday.
